The Donald W. Nixon Centre for Performing and Visual Arts showcases a wide range of national talents during its Fall calendar.

The October calendar includes Hotlanta jazz and the Mountain Faith Band.

The Centre is located at 1523 Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan. For more information about the Centre, visit www.thenixoncentre.net or call at 770-254-2787 (254-ARTS). In addition to general admission ticket prices, special student and senior admissions are also available.

Major upcoming performances include:

Hotlanta Page

Thursday, October 5, 7:00 p.m. - "Hotlanta”
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Hotlanta, a six-piece Dixieland jazz band from Atlanta, Georgia, recreates the sounds of jazz as heard during the early decades of this century in New Orleans. Using clarinet, cornet, trombone, banjo, tuba and drums, they bring to life old favorites like Royal Garden Blues, South, Riverboat Shuffle, Fidgety Feet and of course, the classic, When the Saints Go Marchin' In. Palmer Wood, in Atlanta's "Highpoint Magazine" calls Hotlanta "a trip to New Orleans without the hangover!"

Mountain Faith Page

Sunday, October 15, 3;00 p.m. - "Mountain Faith Band”
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Since 2000, The Mountain Faith Band has performed their unique brand of Americana / Roots music to audiences from coast to coast. When their tour schedule allows, you may find the band performing a prepared program to promote literacy and character education at elementary and high schools along their route. Visiting hospitals to bring joy and entertainment to those who could use a lift is something MFB loves to do. Getting to know MFB is easy; their humility, kindness and love of community shines through on stage and casual conversation.

Friday, October 27, 7:00 p.m. –“Catapult”
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. An America’s Got Talent finalist from Season 8, Catapult features incredible dancers who work behind a screen to create magical shadow silhouettes of shapes from the world around us. Be amazed as you watch their bodies transform into a mountain, an elephant, a dragon, even a helicopter! You’ll never figure out how they do it, and you won’t know what they will create next – you’ll be surprised and delighted again and again. Packed with hundreds of shape transformation, the show is full of humor, emotion and engaging stories.

The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts is located at 1523 Lower Fayetteville Road in Newnan. For directions, or to get more information about these or other upcoming Centre events, call 770-254-2787 (770-254-ARTS).
In addition to serving Coweta students, The Centre’s core mission – adopted under its original Fine Arts Director, Don Nixon – is to serve as “an extension of the classroom no matter the age of the student.” The Centre is the Coweta County School System’s premier arts facility, and has followed a mission of artistic and educational excellence, and community involvement and outreach, since its opening in 2004.

Thanks to the Centre Patrons, several upcoming winter and spring performances will include special performances for students or master classes for student artists.

Those interested in becoming a member of the Centre patrons can find out more by visiting CentrePatrons.org. For a full calendar of performances – by students or for students - visit www.thenixoncentre.net and see the Coweta Schools Event List and the Children's Educational Performances calendars.
